16. The Ruins of the City

The details on the picture plane are indistinct as though shrouded in smoke
or dust and distanced by the passing of years. The square whole is divided
vertically by a narrow red stain which cuts the picture into two distinct parts, a hazy grey three-quarter section, in which the ruins of what appear to be a grand buildings can almost be made out through the debris and the dust , and a small bluish quarter section, slightly clearer, where it seems almost possible to discern the movement of human beings.


Szczegóły obrazu są niewyraźne, niczym osnute dymem lub oprószone pyłem, zatarte przez upływ czasu. Obraz jest podzielony na pól czerwoną, wąską plamą, wydzielające dwie strony, mglisto-szara część wyłania zza kurzu i gruzu ruiny świetnych niegdyś budynków, na niebieskawej, wyraźniejszej ćwiartce obrazu rysują się, ledwo dostrzegalne, ludzkie postaci w ruchu.

Homage to the Phoenix rising from recent history. A hymn to the invisible forms of the future that are already there in embryo.(A bustling city scene has been painted clearly onto this canvas and then obliterated by a series of thin acrylic washes alternating with rough impasto brush strokes which were then covered by further layers of wash and glaze. The two sections were then divided vertically by the thin red line.)

Hołd, złożony Feniksowi, wznoszącemu się znad współczesnej historii. Hymn na cześć niewidzialnych, przyszłych form, których zalążki już powstały. (Tętniąca życiem scena z życia miasta została naniesiona na płótno, a następnie zatarta wieloma pociągnięciami akrylowego lawowania, naprzemiennie z szerokimi pociągnięciami pędzla, wykonanymi techniką impastu, potem pokryta warstwami lawowania i laserunku. Dwie części w poziome przecina cienka, czerwona linia.)
