Out of a purplish fog embedded with half glimpsed faces and other indistinct forms three black geometrically shaped figures emerge. The central figure bows his head and reaches forward to accept the proffered handshake of a more dominant figure. In the background the third figure stands, a witness, looking on, his hands informally resting on his hips.

Z purpurowej mgły, z otoczenia na wpół widocznych twarzy i innych, rozmazanych plam, wyłaniają się trzy czarne, geometryczne postaci. Środkowa wykonuje ukłon w stronę dłoni, podanej przez większą postać. Trzecia z nich, świadek sceny, przygląda się, jego ręce spoczywają niezobowiązująco na biodrach.

Trust stands here on thin ice. Power steps across a ruined landscape. The picture plane wobbles beneath the feet of the principals like a trembling bog. (The canvas has been painted over again and again providing a dreamscape of rutted textures and uneven surfaces on which the three crude stick figures made up of charcoal lines and black triangles enact the present moment of their scene. Through the overpainted surface mouths can be seen to grimace beneath the actors.)

Ufność stoi na kruchym lodzie. Moc kroczy po zniszczonym krajobrazie. Płaszczyzna obrazu faluje pod stopami możnowładców jak niespokojne trzęsawisko. (Płótno zostało pokryte wieloma warstwami, dając baśniowe podłoże chropowatym fakturom i nierównym powierzchniom, na którym trzy patykowate postaci, narysowane niczym niewprawną ręką, węglem i czarnymi trójkątami odgrywają fragment sceny. Poprzez przemalowaną powierzchnię widoczne są ich usta, wygięte w grymasie pod aktorami.)
