Widok ośnieżonego Starego Rynku z Wagą Miejską i Muzeum Powstania Wielkopolskiego 1918-1919 w tle. W dolnym lewym rogu obrazu cztery postaci w czerni bezszelestnie suną przez śnieg, mijając Fontannę Marsa, boga wojny.

The obliterating cloak of winter shrouds the fountain of the War God as mortals, black against the purity of the snow exeunt stage left and stage right leaving the square to peaceful contemplation. (Reminiscent of a Dutch winter townscape, sparingly monochrome but for the magenta of tiles of rooftops and the bare wooden frame of a market stall this small painting invokes a quiet late afternoon in Stary Rynek shortly before Christmas.)
